Imam Sadiq (AS) narrates that “one who recites this supplication for 40 mornings; he will be accounted amongst the helpers of Imam Mahdi. And if he happens to die before the reappearance of Imam Mahdi, Allah will raise him up from his rave so that he may assist the holy Imam. For every word that he recites in this supplication, Allah will grant him 1000 good deeds and will erase from his scroll of deeds 1000 sins”. As the title suggests, this supplication is of allegiance (ahad) to the holy Imam. Its recitation every morning ensures the renewal of this covenant. The reciter finds himself under the leadership of Imam. The reciter beseeches All to include him among the helpers and aides of Imam and to grant him the opportunity to attain martyrdom in his presence. Also, he requests Allah that should he die before the reappearance of Imam. Allah should raise him up from his grave so that he may assist him in his mission. امام صادق (ع) نقل کرده اند: «هر که چهل صباح این عهد را بخواند از یاران قائم ما باشد و اگر پیش از ظهور آن حضرت از دنیا برود، خدا او را از قبر بیرون آورد که در خدمت آن حضرت باشد و حق تعالی به هر کلمه آن هزار حسنه، او را کرامت فرماید و هزار گناه از او محو کند.» در نتیجه این که این دعا باید صبح خوانده شود و بهترین وقت آن بعد از نماز صبح است و صبح به لحاظ فقهی از طلوع فجر صادق تا طلوع خورشید محسوب می شود. ولی عرفاً تا یکی دو ساعت از بر آمدن آفتاب را هم شامل می شود.ظاهر روایت خواندن متوالی و پشت سر هم در چهل صباح است.خواندن این دعا اصلاً مستحب است. اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وعَجِّلْ فَرَجَهُمْ
