It is a nice soft light sweatshirt type of material. It is exactly what I was looking for; we wanted a light one for the warm nights (it will not be enough for cooler nights, it really is quite light, but not like a sheet - it has some substance to it). I like that the zipper closure doesn't go all the way up to his chin; it also has a fabric behind it and so there is no chance of it irritating his face. It is easy enough to work with during the night, I can do it more or less in the dark. I bought the medium and find it does fit my 6 month old (it is a little big, which I would expect, but it is not huge - so we can use it now). I bought another sleeper by a different company and the medium is much bigger, we still cannot use it, so I was happy that this one is useable now. It doesn't bunch up around his face, the fit is pretty nice. I love the snaps on the shoulders, a really nice feature when you want to take your baby in and out of the sleeper. If you are debating between sleepers, pick one with the snaps, you will find it extremely handy ( I was looking at Halo sleepers and even though I found some nice ones I ended up getting this because of the shoulder snaps). These snaps are good too, they are not flimsy at all or cheap, I cannot see how it would be undone on its own. I have a sleeping bag that we are using now that has snaps and I love it. Overall, a good sleeping bag. I do wish the colors were more interesting, but that is not important (the one I've been using has such a cute embroidered sleeping elephant I guess I got spoiled)
