Fashion &… Halston MINISODE Women’s Wear Daily declared “The 1970s belong to Halston.” Roy Halston Frowick shot to fame in 1961 when Jackie Kennedy wore one of his hats to her husband, John F. Kennedy’s presidential inauguration. Halston launched his first ready-to-wear line in 1969. By the 1970s, He was America’s first fashion Superstar and dressed the decades most influential and stylish women. He used deceptively simple cuts and a basic colour palette. He mixed simple and minimalist silhouettes with new and luxurious fabrics such as Ultrasuede, crêpe de chine, chiffon, satin and sequins. Halston’s designs were made to move and shimmer on the dancefloor and his signature halter dressed were ubiquitous with the glamour of the disco era.
