Overview of Power Steering and Air Conditioning approach. This was supposed to be about AC Compressor but it is more about Power Steering. Unfortunately I did not get around filming second part about actual installation of the compressor so I will try to describe my solution here. I am using early Tesla Model S compressor for which I made simple Arduino Controller to integrate with cars original Climate Controls and it also condenser cooling fan. As the fan I am using BMW X1 PWM controlled fan. Output of the AC system is automatically adjusted based on outdoor temperature to make it more energy efficient. Also, the pink little box you can see underneath battery box is my Cabin Heater, I am using Tesla Model S battery heater. I have inflated it using 1" rigid insulation board to reduce heat loss since heater is located outside of the cabin, hoses are also insulated with foam insulation. Coolant is circulated through original car's heater core using electric circulator pump. Heater is powered from traction battery using custom PWM Controller variably adjusting output based on demand for heat. Heating components are integrated with car's climate control using Arduino.
