Shortly after 9 a.m. a train hit a semi near the crossing of Day Road and Yellowstone Drive East of Hewitt in the Town of Marshfield. The semi was detached from the trailer upon impact and was carried down the tracks by the train engine about a quarter of a mile. Approximately 30 minutes after the incident, the male driver was extracted from the vehicle and was alert as he was transported to Marshfield Medical Center. His condition is currently unknown. Wood County Sheriff’s Deputies who were first on scene said the intersection-crossing will be closed for a few hours. Canadian National Railway will be removing the tractor from the tracks and Mid-State Truck Service will be removing the trailer from the intersection.
