Today we unbox the Solidsteel S2-4, an Italian-made rack designed to isolate and support every component in a system. Onto it we build a chain that reflects both precision and musicality: the Rega Elicit Mk5 integrated amplifier, paired with the Fono MC phono stage; the Rega P8 turntable with its skeletal plinth, RB880 tonearm, and Neo PSU; and finally, the Fyne Audio F501 loudspeakers with their IsoFlare driver and BassTrax diffuser for even room response. Rega has long stood at the forefront of British HiFi, shaping the way music is reproduced at home. Known for their turntables, amplifiers, and phono stages, Rega’s philosophy is one of engineering-led design, avoiding excess while pursuing performance. Their products combine precision with accessibility, and their emphasis on reliability has made them a trusted name for enthusiasts across the world. Much of this vision comes directly from founder Roy Gandy. A trained engineer and lifelong music lover, Gandy built Rega from the ground up with a focus on simplicity, honesty, and innovation. His ideas continue to define the company’s approach to audio, and his hands-on involvement over the decades has given Rega a distinct character, one that balances technical rigour with musical sensitivity.
