We took our Ford GT up to Willow Springs, courtesy of the Throttle House team to settle the debate once and for all! Last summer, we were driving through Laguna Beach, and thanks to GM publishing a Z06 0-60 time of 2.6 seconds, some dude in a Corvette hat yelled out at us, "I beat you! I beat you!" Well, I do have to say, we were quite nervous doing this, but needed to know for real who was doing the beating! We drove the car up the night before, stayed in a local hotel, then headed out to the track. I have to say, the Throttle House guys were on it. They were jamming that day, working incredibly hard to get the footage needed for the video. They did a full on feature with the two cars and it was so cool seeing the final product on their channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBagFtYZa0U&t=681s James did a practice run with the Launch Control, and then it was on. Three races from a standing start, and a roll race. This video has the three standing start races. The Z06 just couldn't put the power down. Even with warmed up tyres, it was struggling. The two cars had Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, but the 'vette had the "R" version, which should have been grippier. On the first run, Thomas gave up as he was learning the finesse required to get the C8 off the line effectively. No doubt, the C8 Z06 is a very impressive car, and you are getting a ton of performance for the money. We have had people tell us we should have got a C8, and if you consider performance only, yeah maybe. The GT is more than that though. It is so rare, there are many people that haven't seen one. It is also worth so much more money than we bought it for. Best of all for us, when people see it, they wear smiles as big as ours when we drive it. That is what makes the GT so special.
