What is value investing? Value Investing is the process of finding underpriced stocks, buying them, and holding them for the long-term until the market sees the value in the company. So, in my words, value investing is a strategy for identifying undervalued stocks based on fundamental analysis. Warren Buffett is perhaps the most well-known value investor. Value investors use financial ratios such as price-to-earnings, price-to-book, debt-to-equity, and price/earnings-to-growth to discover undervalued stocks. Usually, value stocks are traded at cheap prices against their inherent strengths. I have used 9 metrics to shortlist the 5 stocks which I'm going to present to you. Those 9 metrics are - Positive Net Income Positive return on assets in the current year Positive operating cash flow in the current year Cash flow from operations being greater than net Income (quality of earnings) Lower ratio of long term debt in the current period, compared to the previous year (decreased leverage) Higher current ratio this year compared to the previous year (more liquidity) No new shares were issued in the last year (lack of dilution) A higher gross margin compared to the previous year A higher asset turnover ratio compared to the previous year
