When it comes to your camera's focus modes, there are quite a few to choose from. Picking the proper focus mode for landscape photography can be the difference between a portfolio-worthy image and a throw-away blurry shot. For landscape photography, I make do with three different focus modes for various scenarios: AF-S, or autofocus single-shot, is the best focus mode for 90% of your landscape images. Anytime your subject isn't moving, this is the best focus mode to use. AF-S will hunt for focus each time you press the shutter halfway down but will not continue to search for focus if you hold the shutter there. AF-C, or autofocus continuous, is the best focus mode when your subject moves. While true landscape photography generally doesn't involve a moving subject, many of us may occasionally capture animals or people in nature, which is a great time to use AF-C. This focus mode continually hunts for focus while the shutter button is pressed down, making it great to shoot moving subjects in burst mode. MF, or manual focus, is best used when your camera's autofocus can't pick up enough contrast in the scene to focus properly. This is usually in low-light situations. Using manual focus requires you to manually dial in the focus ring on your camera's lens. Be sure to pick the correct focus mode if you want to ensure sharp landscape photos! #landscapephotography #photography #naturephotography #photographytip #improvephotography #learnphotography #camerasettings #photographygear
