The William Bennett Bridge in Kelowna, B.C., is now open in both directions on Monday after being closed for about 11 hours due to an ongoing police incident. Kelowna RCMP said that at 3:45 a.m. PT, officers were called to the bridge after a person, believed to be in crisis, parked a vehicle in the eastbound lanes of the bridge. Photos from the scene showed that the vehicle is a Mr. Chill ice cream truck That person is believed to have ignited a small fire in the vehicle before they were taken into custody, police said. At about 2:18 p.m., Kelowna RCMP said the suspect vehicle was towed from the bridge with the assistance of the Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) which was called in to help.
