This is a full walk-through of my process for painting a detailed gouache landscape of one of the coolest places: Old Man of Storr on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. In this video I share my thought process for creating depth, texture, and interest. I hope it's helpful! But here's the plot twist! I'm teaching myself how to paint with a "cel-shading" style. But you'll see that it's not so easy to escape your own natural style, as I explain along the way. I'm sure I'll get better at it as I go! Basically, cel-shading is a non hyper realistic style, originally meant to make 3D graphics look 2D. So you use less gradients and blending, and more areas of solid color to create your shadows and highlights.  This technique works well for backgrounds in illustrations, comics, animations, and more, when you want a sense of realism but you don't want the background to steal all the attention. Studio Ghibli is a great example! I really like the look of this style, so today I tested the waters to see if I could do it. I really need a lot more practice! ➤ My Supply List: https://bit.ly/SBfavesupplies ➤ Tutorials & Blog: https://fearlessbrush.com/painting/ ➤ Patreon: http://bit.ly/sburnspatreon ➤ Instagram: http://bit.ly/sburnsinsta ➤ Prints: https://bit.ly/sbbookshop
