A strong butt means healthy low back and knees. The benefits of these simple squats are that you can do them anytime you get up and down from a chair. Take a moment and think about how many times a day you are sitting on a chair or couch. Imagine if you took just a few extra seconds to lower yourself up and down with more control, more work for your glutes, you'd be doing these simple squats throughout the day... hurray! (This video is sped up 2x) How to: Instead of just plopping yourself down onto the chair, try slowly lowering down. To get the most benefits, shift your hips back so that you are trying to reduce the forward movement of your knees and instead, using your glutes more. Go as slowly as it works for you. Experiment hovering at the last moment before you sit completely down. From sitting, try lifting up and holding just an inch or so off the chair. Come up and down a few times, to get those glutes nice and strong.
