During the French Revolution, the French King Louis XVI and the Queen Marie Antoinette were both executed on the guillotine. But only one of their children would survive the Reign of Terror and the revolution. The Queen and King had four children, their eldest was a daughter named Marie Therese who would escape France following her imprisonment. The second child, a son named Louis Joseph was the heir, but he died rather tragically at a young age. The third child was proclaimed King Louis XVII by monarchists after the execution of the French King, but he was subjected to harrowing abuse as he was locked up.
