LinkedIn is cracking down on fake profiles that are being used to spam other users and trick them into downloading malware or revealing personal information. To address this issue, LinkedIn is partnering with secure identity platform Clear to introduce a new verification program. Users will be asked to provide government-issued ID or other forms of identity verification, and once confirmed, will receive a verification mark next to their name, similar to Twitter's system. The program is currently being tested with a group in the US, with a wider rollout expected soon.
