Nissan Motor Co plans to equip some of its models with "steer-by-wire", a computerized engine technology, to control steering electronically. The system works by sending signals generated by the driver's inputs to a computerised control unit that then instructs an actuator controlling tire movements. Using the electronic signal, the tires can quickly move in accordance with the steering wheel. The technology can also adjust the steering to control wandering caused by rough roads and crosswinds and a front camera recognizes road markings. SOURCE: Reuters, BBC
