The thing is, too many people end up working jobs that make them feel unfulfilled. By taking time to figure out what you really want, you can set yourself on the path to finding your dream job. There are two broad categories of jobs out there: survival jobs and dream jobs. Survival jobs are those jobs that you take for a variety of reasons, but they aren’t really what you aspire to. Maybe you needed money to pay off a loan, or maybe a job didn’t turn out the way you thought it would but you didn’t feel like changing. Dream jobs, on the other hand, are jobs that make you feel alive. So why aren’t more of us working our dream jobs? Well, it can be difficult to find a job you love if you don’t even know what that dream job would look like. This is why having a vision is so critical. A vision provides clarity and direction for your life. One way that you can focus on your vision is to choose a vision word. These are action words like, “change,” “learn,” and “uncomfortable.” Repeating these words every day can help you hone in on what you really want. For example, you can say, “Change will get me where I want to go.” Eventually, you’ll start being drawn toward what it is you really want to do. Having a vision will provide you with the direction you need to create momentum in your life.
