December 31, 2011-While watching a pod of Transient orca in Puget Sound, I turned my camera on this group of Barrow's Goldeneye ducks to positive ID when home. Through the lens I caught a glimpse of a male making a move to appear most attractive to this female so I kept filming. It wasn't until playback that I could fully appreciate how much competitive courting these boys were engaged in. Their synchronized flirting is quite fantastic (& a little hilarious for those who grew up with Martin Short/Harry Shearer). By Alisa LB
