Whenever I pick a destination, I like having an idea of how much it’s actually going to cost me to travel there comfortably. Luckily for you, I tracked my entire budget every day for 6 months while travelling through South America. I didn’t get to go everywhere, but four countries in six months seemed pretty good to me! I broke my travel expenses down into 6 main Categories. Which include Food, Accommodation, Transportation, Tours and Activities, Necessities, and extras. ALL COSTS ARE IN CANADIAN DOLLARS! The costs are as follows: Food: $2,942.19 Accommodation: $2,079.39 Transportation: $1,649.09 Activities/Tours: $2,108.38 Necessities: $486.33 Extras: $1,478.51 All coming together for a grand total of $10,759.04. Which works out to be $60.79 per day. Keep in mind that these are expenses that are directly related to my trip and my experiences but your trip may be different. Your itinerary can be completely different to this one, either cheaper or more expensive, but this is a good base line budget for 6 months of solo travel in South America. Thanks for watching!
