As an AD now, I wish someone had lent me these tips when I first began my career 30 years ago. It would've saved time, energy, and frustration. I hope they're helpful for you! See more below: 1. Be a "Go To" Person - be the person they can't live without. 2. Reliability - being reliable means being called back again & again! 3. Responsiveness - Act quickly and respond immediately. 4. Ability to Follow Creative Direction - Sounds easy, but it's vital! 5. Be Flexible & Positive - "Yes" is the best response for everything. 6. Three is a Magic Number - Limit sketches or comps to just three. 7. Expectations - Meet them, then go beyond! 8. Be Brief - Say what you mean & Do what you say, but keep it simple! 9. Always Ask, Never Assume - Get the facts! Don't assume info. 10. Follow up, then follow up, again - Stay on the radar, get more work! Professionalism, Accuracy, and Deadlines are the three key things to focus on as a freelancer. The 10 points above are insights on how to enhance these three keys. I hope you find them helpful.
