Fire crews are battling an out-of-control wildfire in Squamish, B.C. Flames and smoke were first spotted late Monday afternoon in forest above several homes, east of Highway 99. The Dryden Creek wildfire is burning uncomfortably close to homes, powerlines, and the Sea-to-Sky Highway connecting Metro Vancouver to Whistler. The area contains a network of popular mountain biking and hiking trails. An evacuation alert was issued for some properties in the Brackendale area, and a local state of emergency was issued Tuesday morning due to potential risks to the community's safety.
