Here are some things you can do to protect you and your family: - Pick a high place to evacuate to - Practice an evacuation route from your home to the place above - Have back-up evacuation sites in case you cannot make it to your primary - Get familiar with local tsunami evacuation routes - Work on your general physical fitness - Practice climbing structures and trees - Subscribe to tsunami alerts on all your devices - Know natural tsunami warning signs: deep roaring sound from the ocean, quickly receding shoreline, abnormally high sea levels - If already out at sea when a tsunami hits, move further out from the shore - If close to shore when a tsunami hits, get on land and run for higher elevation - If in a vehicle and it gets stuck, abandon it and evacuate on foot - If there is not enough time to evacuate to higher elevation, get on the top level of a sturdy building - If no other option, climb a tall, thick tree - Wherever you are, anticipate up to 8 hours of possible tsunami waves - Avoid areas with downed power lines - If stuck in tsunami water, hang onto large pieces of debris Do you have anything to add?
