On September 28th Juvenile Law Center's Youth Advocacy Program traveled to Washington D.C. to host a Congressional Briefing, in collaboration with the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute, regarding family preservation and permanency for those impacted by the family policing system (also known as the child welfare system). Advocates read personal statements about their experience which included recommendations for Congress to consider in future policy legislation. Guest Speakers included Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon (PA) and Congressman Don Bacon (NE), co-chairs of the Congressional Caucus on Foster Youth.
