The family and I were looking for a spot near Arenal Volcano where we could relax our tired muscles after a long jungle hike near La Fortuna. We checked-in for a half day at the Tabacon Thermal Resort and Spa (https://www.tabacon.com/) and found just what we needed. These volcano hot springs are separately located from the main resort hotel (they have their own private section of the spa and are allowed to use the public section). Since we were not staying at the hotel, we found private parking right across from the entrance. You'll find lots of cars on the side of the road who are in an unpaid section of the hot springs (appeared really crowded) but if you're going to Tabacon, find the security guard in the road to show you the fenced and well-secured parking lot. Be sure to follow my other "once in a lifetime" bucket list vacations on Instagram: @sevtaps_utopia https://www.instagram.com/sevtaps_utopia/ There are full day and half day packages. Some include lunch or dinner but it's optional. The stay can be expensive - we paid about $70 each and half that for our six year old. Kids five years and under are free. Speaking of kids, the volcano springs at Tabacon are kid friendly. There is a warm pool with a swim up bar and slide. But, for those looking for peace and quiet, there were not kids running around. In fact, each hot spring is separated and quiet from one another. You can simply walk up a path and find a quiet spot with a small heated waterfall to relax by all day.
