MAN zeigt auf der IAA Nutzfahrzeuge 2014 den neuen Sechs-Zylinder-Motor D38, welcher die ebenfalls neue Schwerlastzugmaschine MAN TGX 41.640 antreibt. Mit dem D38 beendet nun auch MAN die Ära der Acht-Zylinder-Motoren. Von Leistungseinbußen allerdings keine Spur. Bis zu 640 PS und 3.000 Nm Drehmoment stehen auf der Habenseite. Neu sind unter anderem gewölbte Ventile und zahlreiche Kunststoff-Elemente, unter anderem die Ölwanne, um trotz Euro 6-Abgasbehandlung Gewicht einzusparen.
