Nick's 3 top and best exercises that should form part of your staple strengthening process for runners as promised for @wildgingerruns Ok we can't guarantee that you won't get injured, but we can guarantee that by doing these exercises regularly as part of your ongoing training, you will run better, faster and absolutely minimise the chance of injury from running.. 1 - Soleus Bent knee calf raises, you need a towel, band, rope or belt to help support. Bend the knee to 90 degree and raise up to your toes To make it harder do it off the edge of the step or add weights Try 6-8 repetitions, 5 sets and keep the effort level 7/10 (0 = no effort 10 = max effort) 2 - Bulgarian spilt squat Using the edge of the sofa, seat or bed, place the top of the foot on it. Now squat down on the other leg and raise back up. To make it harder do it off the edge of the step or add weights Try 6-8 repetitions, 5 sets and keep the effort level 7/10 (0 = no effort 10 = max effort) 3 - Lateral band walks Using a tone loop around the feet, place them shoulder width apart, put the weight on the outside of the feet. Now grab walk across you your lounge, kitchen etc To make it harder user a harder band or add more bands.
