Al Jazeera has obtained leaked documents and recordings showing former Syrian regime figures plotting to reorganise armed networks. The files reveal funding channels, weapons stockpiles, and coordination inside Syria and abroad. The leaks implicate al-Assad’s high-ranking officers, specifically Suheil al-Hassan, the brigadier-general who commanded the notorious Quwwat al-Nimr (Tiger Forces), an elite unit in the former regime’s army. Documents suggest up to 168,000 fighters remain loyal to former regime networks across Syria. Audio recordings include Hasan discussing fighter numbers and financial backing. The revelations come amid growing instability in Syria’s coastal Alawite regions and rising sectarian tensions. Leaked files detail plans for armed activity, highlighting the threat to national unity and fragile post-war recovery. Al Jazeera’s Ali Hashem reports.
