In this 2015 Science and Story Program, The History of the Future, author Walter Isaacson discusses Ada Lovelace's published scientific paper on "Babbage's Machine." In her notes, Ada Lovelace states that machines will never think, be able to think on their own, or be imaginative. They (machines) will require a "human partnership" in order to originate thought. About 100 years later, the concept of a machines inability to think on its own was named "Lady Lovelace's Objection," by Alan Turing.
