DuPont 5-Point Analysis is used to decompose the different drivers of Return on Equity (ROE). DuPont Analysis, originally popularized by the DuPont Corporation in the 1920s, is a framework for analyzing the fundamental performance and profitability of a company. Return on Equity (ROE) is a measure of a company's profitability and how efficiently it generates those profits. ROE is calculated by dividing a company's net income by its shareholders' equity. EQUITY MULTIPLIER - Equity multiplier analyses a company's use of debt to finance assets, thereby measuring the degree of financial leverage. 4. INTEREST BURDEN - Interest burden reflects the impact of the firm's capital structure, i.e. proportion of debt and equity. 5. TAX RETENTION RATE - Tax retention reflects the impact of taxation on profitability.
