A daytime aerial shot of the massive neo-gothic Basílica del Voto Nacional. It is located in the heart of the central historic district in Quito, the capital of Ecuador. Construction of the colossal church began in 1892. Designed by the French architect Emelio Tarlier. It was inspired by the famous Notre Dame cathedral, and the plans alone took 6 years to draw up. The basílica is technically unfinished. Legend has it, that when it is completed to 100% the end of the world will commence.
