Liberals and Conservatives took turns criticizing each other over the state of Canada’s economy during question period on Monday. One example referenced was a report that Food Banks Canada released earlier that day, which stated that the organization recorded more than two million visits in March 2024 — nearly double the monthly visits five years ago in March 2019, and six per cent above last year’s record-breaking figure. Conservatives pointed to the Liberal’s carbon tax as a source that’s helping drive food bank use. “People who used to volunteer at the food bank are now lining up to use it,” said Conservative MP Michelle Ferrari. Government House Leader Karina Gould shot back by saying “It's the Conservative members of Parliament that want to sell slogans instead of solutions. It's them who say that they can fix things, while cutting the services and the programs that Canadians rely on. We're going to do real things that help real people.” For more info, please go to https://globalnews.ca/news/10833970/food-banks-canada-report-2024/ Subscribe to Global News Channel HERE: http://bit.ly/20fcXDc Like Global News on Facebook HERE: http://bit.ly/255GMJQ Follow Global News on X HERE: http://bit.ly/1Toz8mt Follow Global News on Instagram HERE: https://bit.ly/2QZaZIB #GlobalNews #foodbanks
