TCL 6-Series: The Best 4K HDR TV for Gaming in 2018 Get the TCL 6-Series 4K TV: http://geni.us/tcl6series I got a chance to check out the TCL 6-Series 4K HDR TV last week at CES 2018. This is the follow-up to the massively popular TCL P-Series, and will be released in spring of this year and it looks like it's set to be recognized as the best 4K HDR TV for gaming in 2018. So, what’s changed with the 6-Series in 2018 when compared to the P-Series? TCL has focused on a few key areas, but one I want to start with is the TV design itself. One of the biggest complaints about the P-Series was that, while the actual picture on the display was amazing, the body of the TV looks kind of cheap and plasticky. The 6-Series does away with the plastic and trades it in for a high-quality metal frame, which does a great job at making the TV look like a premium product, while keeping the bezels along the front of the display itself to a minimum. Another change from last year? The 6-Series will be available in both 55- and 65-inch versions. When the P-Series was announced last year, TCL announced those same two sizes, and later scrapped the 65-inch version which was going to be released at the end of 2017 - instead they opted to go a few more months without a 65-inch model so they could launch it with the 6-Series instead. This is exactly what I was hoping for from the P-Series, so to see it arrive here with the 6 makes it all the more lust-worthy for the average consumer. The 6-Series models also come with a new Roku TV voice remote, 802.11ac WiFI, Ethernet and three HDMI 2.0a ports. If you are looking for one of the best FALD TV sets you can get, look no further. The 6-Series is FALD - that’s full array backlighting, which is exactly what you want if you are looking to buy an LCD with an impressive picture. They've added more backlight zones to the 55-inch model, which now sports 96 local dimming zones, which is 24 more than the P-Series had at 72 zones. If you opt for the 65-inch model, you get bumped up to 120 zones. This means you should see improved contrast and less blooming when compared to the previous model. Of course you get the same support for High Dynamic Range, in both Dolby Vision and HDR10 flavors, which pair perfectly with the wide color gamut display.
