Kamala Harris stunned audience members into silence after an awkward moment at a rally on Monday. The vice president left supporters in Michigan scratching their heads after she instructed them to chant their own names. Speaking at a rally in Ann Arbor, the Democratic nominee said: “We are all here because we are fighting for a democracy and for the right of people to be heard and seen. “We’re not about the enemy within. We know we are all in this together. That’s what we are fighting for.” Her comments were greeted with cheers and a spontaneous chant of “Kamala, Kamala, Kamala”. Instead of continuing her speech, Ms Harris then ad-libbed, pointing at her supporters and telling them: “Now I want each of you to shout your own name, do that.” Her instruction was met with widespread confusion, with footage showing the chant coming to a sudden halt and supporters lowering their Harris-Walz placards.
