U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday (August 15) his summit meeting in Alaska with Russian President Vladimir Putin went well, and that "a lot of points were agreed on". In televised interview filmed right after the summit ended, Trump spoke to Fox News' Sean Hannity on a range of topics from his discussions with Putin. "A lot of points were agreed on, but there's not that much. There's, you know, one or two pretty significant items. But I think they can be reached now. It's really up to President Zelenskiy to get it done. And I would also say the European nations, they have to get involved a little bit," said Trump. When asked if he and his Russian counterpart had alone time, Trump told Hannity, "Yeah, I did. I did, actually, after our speeches. He made a very good speech, and I also finished it up. And afterwards we spoke. Right after that, we spoke very sincerely. I think he wants to see it done." Trump also said he will not have to think of retaliatory tariffs on countries buying Russian oil right now but may have to soon. "Well, because of what happened today, I think I don't have to think about that," Trump told Hannity. "Now, I may have to think about it in two weeks or three weeks or something, but we don't have to think about that right now. I think, you know, the meeting went very well." The highly anticipated summit between Trump and Putin on Friday yielded no agreement to resolve or pause Moscow's war in Ukraine, though both leaders described the talks as productive.
