So, why bother with 2FA? Well, it's all about beefing up your account security. Essentially, 2FA adds an extra layer of protection. Most folks are familiar with receiving a code via text after logging in, which you then enter to gain access to your account. It's a solid way to keep things secure. But, what I personally prefer and recommend is using an authenticator app. I use the Google Authenticator app, which you can easily download from the App Store on iPhone or, I'm pretty sure, on Android too. Setting up 2FA on your LinkedIn is straightforward. If you're on desktop, like I am, start on your LinkedIn profile. You could even drop me a follow while you're there, which would be awesome. Head to the top and click on your profile option, then scroll down to 'Settings and Privacy'. By default, it'll open up to 'Account Preferences'. From there, navigate to the sidebar and select 'Sign in and Security'. You'll see a bunch of options, but what we're interested in is all the way down at 'Two-step verification'. If you haven't set up 2FA yet, you'll see options to get started. I've already got mine turned on for obvious security reasons, so I won't be switching it off. The process involves toggling on the feature and then either scanning a QR code or entering a provided code into your authenticator app. This links your LinkedIn account with the app. Next time you log in, after entering your usual username and password, you'll be prompted to enter a code from your authenticator app. This extra step significantly enhances your account's security. So, to wrap up, just dive into your settings, hit 'Sign in and Security', and then 'Two-step verification'. Follow the prompts, and you'll have 2FA up and running in no time. And that's pretty much it – a straightforward way to make your LinkedIn account a lot more secure.
