5 cities where I encountered the most tourist scams And don’t get me wrong, ALL of these cities are worth visiting There are just a few things to look out for So here’s the list 👇 1. Cairo, Egypt 🇪🇬 - People are often trying to take advantage of tourists at touristy places (like the pyramids) or in the markets. Selling things at way too high of prices, fake tour guides, overpriced or strange camel rides, and much more. 2. Havana, Cuba 🇨🇺 - Famous for the “cigar scam” where someone comes up to you and offers a great price on cigars, only to sell you fake ones! This was tried on me soooo many times. Also dodgy money exchanges are a big issue in Havana. 3. Paris, France 🇫🇷 - My girlfriend and I were essentially harassed by scammers at the Eiffel Tower pretending to work for organizations and asking for cash. And Paris is just famous for tourist scams, just Google it. 4. Marrakech, Morocco 🇲🇦 - Sadly I often had a hard time identifying who was genuine and who was trying to take advantage of me. Quite a few times people would offer “help” such as directions or pointing me to good shops and restaurants. But more often than not they wanted money or to bring me somewhere overpriced. Also be prepared to haggle in Marrakech! 5. Bangkok, Thailand 🇹🇭 - To be fair Bangkok is one of my favorite cities in the world. But taxi scams there are out of control. Drivers constantly avoiding the use of the meter or charging obscenely high rates to tourists. Also any night market in Bangkok is an interesting place where you should use common sense. Trust me! Have you experienced any of these or do you have other cities to add to this list?? Let me know! #travel #traveltheworld #tourist #touristtrap #traveltips #traveltipsandtricks #travelsmarter
