I need to install this louver at the very top of that gable, so I’m going to be using a lift. I had one of my friends build this louver. He used PVC so it would be completely maintenance free. First, I mark where I want to predrill for the screws I’ll use to mount the louver. Predrilling should keep the PVC from splitting. I go ahead and start all the screws- this way I can hold the louver with one hand and drive the screws with the other. This louver’s just decorative; so, my friend put black metal behind it to give the appearance that you’re looking into the attic. Next, I install two trim pieces with these small stainless-steel screws. These trim pieces cover the louver mounting screws and overlap onto the frieze board above for a clean look. Just as I was done and ready to come down, The New Guy decided to leave for lunch. He’s late for work every single day, but he’s never late for lunch. I knew I’d be up there for a while because he takes a nap after he’s done eating. Make sure you're subscribed if you want to see the stone being installed on this wall. @hausplans #build #howto #construction #diy #contractor
