Here are 3 effective tips to help you build a brand that leads to life and career success. Tip Number 1. Building expertise -- when feeling introverted. The best way to build your brand is not just to get *good* at something, but to become *great* at something. This does *not* mean that you need to be the top person in your field, but you should strive to achieve excellence in at least a few aspects of some profession or task or process. There are a number of ways to build expertise, such as the PERM method (https://youtu.be/byBXc5_xxg4), which involves a directed approach at performance improvement. The key for introverts is the build an area of expertise that matches your personality and style. Tip Number 2. Promoting your expertise -- when feeling introverted. You can be the very best at something, but people need to know it. Now, this doesn't mean that you have to formally advertise, but you do need to find ways to get others to understand the expertise that you’ve been working so hard to build. A very low-key way to build your personal brand is through platforms like LinkedIn, Reddit, or Quora. But don’t necessarily avoid the types of platforms that you think have been built for those self-proclaimed extroverts. You can promote on YouTube or podcasts or other public venues even as an introvert, because almost all of that work is done by yourself. Consider *my* YouTube videos. It’s actually rare that anyone else is even in the room when I film and edit and post and answer comments. It’s a much more introvert…-friendly… process than most people think. Tip Number 3. Sharing your expertise with others -- when feeling introverted. The best promotion is performance. So, always perform your tasks and duties at the highest level you can. More importantly, ask for more work in the areas of your expertise and/or the areas in which you want to build more expertise. This requires finding opportunities to show off your skills by acquiring the types of jobs that allow you to demonstrate them. The key for introverts starts back at Tip Number One. If you’ve chosen to build your expertise in an area that fits your personality, then you should feel comfortable performing your expert skills in order to share them with others. For introverts, your personal brand can be BOLD AND LOUD or it can be subtle and quiet. The key is to manage it in a way that works for you so that you are satisfied with the outcome.
