How to tell if you have bad shift link bushings. While this is an extreme case if you have flop in your stick this may be why. I'll post up another video later about how to fix this. Reference image of components: https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8719/16748117198_f57284dd63_o.jpg There are a couple different types of shift bushings in there. You have the shift linkage bushings like these here: https://www.fastwrx.com/products/tic-5mt-shift-linkage-update They are the "links" from the shift knob to the transmission. When these are worn out they give left and right play. Then you have the shift stay bushing like these: https://www.perrin.com/shop/shifters/wrx-sti-shifter-linkage-bushings These don't have "linkage" on them they are just "stay" bushings to keep parts of the shifter mechanism in place with the car. When these are worn they often give forward and aft play.
