Tomato Saar is deliciously tangy and soupy curry that you can make for a quick meal. My mom would prepare this often back home, we all loved it! I have no idea on the whereabouts of this dish and I won’t be surprised if it’s called something else somewhere else. Ingredients I used: - 3 large tomatoes (they are the size of my palm) you can use 4 medium sized tomatoes - water for boiling - 1 tbsp oil - 1/4 to 1/2 tsp mustard and cumin seeds each - pinch of hing - few curry leaves, 8-10 - salt to taste - 1/4 tsp turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp red chilli powder - 1 and 1/4 tsp coriander powder - 1 tsp jeera powder Procedure: - Score the tomatoes with a sharp knife - Boil them for 8-10 mins - Blend them once they cool - you can keep the peel on, it’s entirely optional - In hot oil add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing and curry leaves - Pour the tomato purée and add all your masalas Serve hot with some piping hot rice.
