The Micronesians are aptly named due to the fact that they occupy the smallest stretch of islands in terms of land area in the Pacific Islands region, however the region of Micronesia stretches for many thousands of miles across the Pacific and their inhabitants are incredibly rugged and resilient from centuries of ocean exploration and enduring brutalities under various colonial rulers. Today the Micronesians are divided between many different sub-groups such as the Chamorro, Gilbertese, Marshallese and many smaller people groups.
