Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu slammed Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney for saying he was “aware” when a protester at a Liberal rally in Calgary shouted, “There’s a genocide happening in Palestine!” “I’m aware, which is why we have an arms embargo [on Israel],” Carney told the demonstrator Tuesday evening. For the last 18 months, Israel’s military has bombarded Gaza, killing tens of thousands, in their vow to destroy Hamas militants – who killed more than 1,200 Israelis and kidnapped roughly 250 others in a brutal attack on Oct. 7, 2023. When asked to clarify his comments by Global News on Wednesday, Carney said, “I didn’t hear that word [genocide]… I was stating a fact in terms of the arms restrictions.” However, this didn't seem to appease the Israeli prime minister. “Instead of supporting Israel, a democracy that is fighting a just war with just means against the barbarians of Hamas, he attacks the one and only Jewish state,” Netanyahu wrote in an X post on Thursday. He further demanded Carney “backtrack [his] irresponsible statement!” For more info, please go to https://globalnews.ca Subscribe to Global News Channel HERE: http://bit.ly/20fcXDc Like Global News on Facebook HERE: http://bit.ly/255GMJQ Follow Global News on X HERE: http://bit.ly/1Toz8mt Follow Global News on Instagram HERE: https://bit.ly/2QZaZIB #GlobalNews #Israel #Canada #Netanyahu #MarkCarney
