You mentioned that you have a family member with a preemie and you need to get a whooping cough vaccine and this is so good that you're thinking about this because it's very important for adults who are going to be in close contact with young babies to get a booster shot of the Tdap vaccination. Adults ages 19-64 should have a one-time booster shot and the Tdap vaccine is a combination of tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis. The pertussis is the whooping cough component. Adults typically need the tetanus and diphtheria boosters every ten years but a one-time adult booster shot is recommended. As far as where to get it, you can go to your local health department or you can talk with your doctor.
