Good morning everybody! John Lechner, traveler, artist, photographer. Today’s 30 second photography tip is Tripods. When I shoot landscapes, a lot of the time I use a very slow shutter speed. Sometimes, it’s down as low as 30 seconds or maybe longer but also when you’re shooting landscapes, anything below one hundredth of a second you really should be using a tripod. So my tripod is a 3 Legged Thing which is the brand and the model is Brian. Brian is a carbon fiber magnesium alloy tripod. But why I really like it is its compact, very small. It fits in hand, it’s very light but it’s really sturdy. When you’ve got sometimes a kilo or two kilos of camera on your tripod it needs to be sturdy. This is why I use the Brian from 3 Legged Thing but any tripod is good as long as it’s solid and sturdy. When you’re traveling that’s when you need to think about how compact it is.
