We - as the future engineers and graduates-to-be had once questioned ourselves “What is the right career for me?”. Honestly, I wished someone could have better enlightened me previously, rather than just advising “Pursue your passion”; which I doubt we figured any, then. And today, an engineering career rarely follows a linear direction because nothing stays constant. With every new innovation, engineers will face a new shift in their professional landscape. Every step we have taken, every career choice we have made, may have a direct or indirect impact on our future. Perhaps tossing a few questions here could help you reflect and understand yourself better when it comes to choosing your first career. It’s alright to even get into a career and realised that it didn’t suit you when you first thought it supposedly should have. I hope a simple checklist of questions here can help ease your woes instead of blind searching on job sites and LinkedIn, or randomly sending in your resumes without having a purpose or goal.
