Oaxaca is one of Mexico's trendiest cities to visit, and we are totally on board! In this Oaxacan vlog, we are going to be exploring Oaxaca City, eating Oaxacan food, trying mezcal, and visiting one of Mexico's best natural wonders, Hierve el Agua A few years ago, we visited Oaxaca for just one day. We filmed a food vlog during our time in the city, because Oaxaca is known to be the food capital of Mexico! If you are interested in seeing that video, you can watch it here: https://youtu.be/9ov8tYtV7cM?si=qm0PU2Ba6b8VoObu During our last visit, we did an awesome job of trying the local food, but didn't get to see all that Oaxaca has to offer tourists. For a little clarity - Oaxaca is the name of a state in Mexico, and the state's main city is named Oaxaca de Juárez and is commonly referred to as "Oaxaca City." Now that we are traveling Mexico in a car, we have the opportunity to really see Oaxaca City and more of Oaxaca state! In this video, we have the chance to explore so much of Oaxaca! We start out with a tour of our Oaxaca City Air BnB before heading to Templo de Santo Domingo and were blown away by the inside of this unassuming Cathedral. Then we were off to the Zocalo (i.e., main square) to get a proper feel for the city and quickly fell in love with the vibe of this Mexican city. Despite this being our second trip to Oaxaca City, just these first few stops made us so glad we chose to visit Oaxaca again! We visited two markets - Mercado Veinte de Noviembre, and Mercado Benito Juarez and were rewarded with some delicious Oaxacan food. Mico ordered enmolada with Oaxaca's famous mole, and I got an enormous tlayuda that was probably meant to be eaten by two! After the amazing food, we joined an Air BnB experience hosted by our Air BnB host - a mezcal tasting!! If you want an awesome, authentic, and delicious mezcal tasting in Oaxaca City, check out Marcos' tasting here: https://tinyurl.com/2jh6u528 To top off all of these awesome experiences, we drove 70 kilometers East of Oaxaca City to see one of the best natural wonders in Mexico - Hierve el Agua (Boiling Water in English). If you've see our video of Pamukkale in Turkey (https://youtu.be/wEiCzbuPZY8?si=BymOpP2sxgsbsL2m), you'll see some similarities to Hierve el Agua. Minineral-rich water mixed with thermal activity has created beautiful pools of warm water surrounded by petrified waterfalls. It is an absolute wonder, and a place we feel so lucky to have visited! We are Nicole and Mico and in March 2021, we quit our jobs, sold our belongings, and began traveling the world! We never thought we'd be making travel vlogs on YouTube, but after realizing that we had a unique opportunity to share our adventure and make the world feel more familiar and inviting to anyone watching, we took the leap and picked up the camera! We hope our videos show how wonderful, delicious, and friendly the world can be.
