Making Nut Milk: Step 1: Place one cup of raw nuts in a large cup or bowl. Fill it with cold water and let the nuts soak overnight. This will soften the nuts in order to ensure that you don't damage your juicer. It will also help to activate key enzymes in your nuts. Step 2: The next day pour out the water and rinse the nuts thoroughly. Make sure you rinse until the water runs clear. Step 3: Add fresh water to your bowl of nuts. The more water you add, the lighter the milk will be. Don’t add too much. Start with just a cup as you can always add more when the juicer is running. Step 4: When the juicer is running, spoon a ladle full of almonds and water into the top of the juicer. Carefully add more and don’t go too fast, or your juicer will get stuck. Step 5: Continue adding more nuts and water into the juicer. When finished, the milk should be frothy, delicious and ready to enjoy! ------------------------------------------------------------ General Tips: - If you want a super silky smooth nut milk, don't forget to run your finished milk through a sieve. - You can flavour your nut milk with additions such as Vanilla Bean, Cacao, Coffee and other add-ins but please ensure that you do this after the milk has been prepared. Including these ingredients in the milking process may end up damaging your juicer. - You can milk more than just Almonds — why not try Pistachios, Cashews, Brazil Nuts or Macadamias? - Homemade nut milk should be consumed within 3 days as there are no additives or preservatives added. - Your milk may seperate as it sits in the fridge — fret not, this is completely normal. Commercial nut milks often contain emulsifiers that prevent this from occurring. All you have to do is give your bottle a shake and your milk will return to its homogenous state. - Raw nuts make the best base for nut milk, resulting in milk with a mild flavour. For a more intense nutty flavour, you can dry-roast the raw nuts in the oven, for about 5-8 minutes at 180°C. - Some types of nuts need more time to soften than others. For most nuts it is advised to soak them for a minimum of 8 hours. Cashews, Brazil Nuts, Walnuts, Pistachios and Pecans are softer and easier to process.
