Tesla have changed the stereotype about electric cars with well designed and engineered models. What was radical was they were able to make an electric car perform like a sports car. Electric cars had the perception of being slow and weak, but Tesla changed the game. It is also packed with very sophisticated tech. It is the most technically advanced car we have seen, and that is exciting. Who doesn’t want to drive the car of the future. The Tesla power wall is an energy storage unit for the home. Which is helpful for solar panel users, so that excess energy can be stored for use at night or overcast days. This product is a logical product development for the environmentally conscious Tesla and their loyal fans. The Solar energy side of the business is a very interesting aspect, often over looked by the general public. Essentially, Tesla bought a company in 2016 called Solar city, which they hope to turn roof tiles into small durable solar panels. The potential for capturing enough energy to never need traditional electricity is very possible. But their solar business has had a lot of problems. Their manufacturing plant has had a lot of issues with quality control and The tesla shareholders even sued Tesla for acquiring Solar city, I won’t go into the details, but it has been plagued with issues. Tesla has also not focused on this industry of recent times and has lost significant market share. But there is big potential here if Tesla get their act together and grow the solar side of their business. But it has been mismanaged thus far. Now secondly, what about the Elon Musk factor. His sustainable future agenda, controversial tweets and an appetite to solve some of the worlds biggest problems, Have made him a celebrity. He is the heart and soul of Tesla. He is not in it for the profits but for changing the world for the better. And with a growing generation of environmental conscious people, he has nailed the cool factor for a billionaire. He is the rock star of the CEO world. And the general public give him brand loyalty. That is what I believe is a very valuable part of this business. The exceptionally strong Tesla brand. If you own a Tesla, you are cool and smart. Also, Journalists know that Musk and Tesla titles are great clickbait for their articles, which feeds more into the popularity of Elon Musk and the Tesla brand. There is so much noise around him and the brand that millions of people idolise him and support his vision for a more sustainable future. So is Tesla a good company to invest? Now, I spent about a day doing this analyses, I haven’t followed the company for years, so this is all just for entertainment purposes. Your in charge of your own money and your own decision.
