If you want to highlight words or sentences in Premiere Pro, just like this, keep watching, because that’s what I will show you in this short tutorial. First, insert the image you want to use and then create a rectangle using the rectangle tool inside Premiere Pro and drag it to cover the text you want to highlight. Now, when you have that rectangle selected, go to the “Effect Controls” window, go down to “Opacity” and change the “Blend Mode” to “Multiply”. (If it’s not black text on white background, you might need to choose another Blend Mode here.) Now you go up to “Vector Motion” and click “Anchor Point”. Move it to the left side of the rectangle if that’s where you want the motion to start, then go to “Scale” and deselect “Uniform Scale”. Now you can edit height and width individually. Move the playhead to the beginning of the graphic, change width to 0% and then click the stopwatch icon next to width to create the first keyframe. Then move the playhead to where you want the motion to end and change the value to 100% to create the second keyframe. Now the rectangle will “grow” from left to right. Once you’ve done that, it looks something like this. Then, after you’ve nested everything, changed the “Position” and “Scale” with keyframes in the Effect Controls window and added the “Basic 3D”-effect to Swivel and Tilt the image a little bit, it can look something like this.
