After “Syria Operation”, US Rewards Turkey’s Erdogan with F-35 Stealth Fighter | From The Frontline Syria’s regime headed by Bashar Al-Assad has collapsed after Syrian Rebels overthrew the dynast. Assad and his family had ruled Syria with a heavy hand for nearly 50 years. The Syrian Rebels, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham or HTS ousted Assad, who has now fled to Russia. However, the HTS were heavily supported by Turkey and its President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. After Assad’s ouster, the United States has agreed to sell F-35 stealth fighter jets to Turkey. Ankara was once a part of the F-35 stealth jet program but was booted and put under sanctions after Erdogan purchased S-400 air defence systems from Vladimir Putin. Since then Erdogan has been on a quest to upgrade his fighter jets, but has been rejected by Germany for the Eurofighter Typhoon.
