Homeostasis is maintaining a constant internal environment. Cells need their environment to be just right in order for the cell to survive. In order to maintain this environment organisms need to self regulate and make adjustments. This process of self regulating is called, homeostasis. If homeostasis can be maintained then cells, and animals stay alive. If homeostasis cannot be maintained, death may occur. In order to understand what homeostasis looks like, I would like to go over three examples of homeostasis that occurs in the human body. Humans maintain a constant temperature of about 98.5 degrees fahrenheit. If it is how outside we sweat, and if we get cold we shiver. The hypothalamus of the brain receives negative feedback from the body and makes adjustments in order to keep 98.5 The body also needs to maintain a certain amount of water inside the body. Again the hypothalamus and also the kidney works together to help keep the water level constant. If you need water you get thirsty, if you have an abundance of water you urinate. Your body also regulates the amount of sugar in your blood. The pancreas helps to regulate the amount of blood in your bloodstream. Even the PH level needs to remain a constant level.
